The environment, our people and sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Curver.

Curver is part of the Keter Group, and for the past 70 years, we have been a world-leader in resin-based products and we take that responsibility very seriously.

We want to be a force for change by having a lasting, positive impact on people and the planet, and believe that we can encourage sustainable living through the creation of long-lasting products.

That is why ‘We Care’ – our sustainability programme is very important to us and sets out our point of view on plastics.

We want to ensure that plastics are created and recycled to support our sustainability ambitions. This includes ensuring that our operations, from material and design innovation to our manufacturing processes, are undertaken responsibly.

As a business we have five key sustainability goals to help us to strive to make a difference and work towards a better world.

MATERIALS INNOVATION

We believe innovation in materials is one of the main ways we will solve the sustainability challenge.

We are focusing on reducing the use of virgin plastics and doubling our use of recycled materials across our business by 2028. We are already the largest user of recycled plastics in our industry, reusing 120,000 tons of plastics in 2018 – we want to aim higher!

Our Curver Ecolife and Infinity ranges are made from 100% recycled waste with the same quality and look as new plastic. And we will continue to innovate to create material solutions that support our sustainability vision.

Our raw materials are free of plasticizers and BPA. In the 1980s, Curver was among the first plastic manufacturers to remove heavy metal components, including cadmium, from the production line.

Our RDF team is constantly developing new zero-waste 100% recyclable products. Coming soon is a Kratky Hydroponic planter and NTF Hydroponic system which enables people to grow food faster than ever, using less water.

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS

Responsible business practices underpin everything we do. We aim to minimize our operational footprint and promote responsible practices among the communities in which we operate.

Where we can, we source materials locally to our factories to minimize our environmental footprint and support the communities we operate in.

Many of our factories use solar power and are fully automated, reducing labor and electricity. We are creating a network of co-generation

energy technology solutions at selected sites to ensure we operate using cleaner and more responsible energy sources.

Our employees are our greatest resource. We are respectful and promote diversity, so everyone feels valued. We work together as One Keter to create innovative, high-quality products at the forefront of our industry.

We are part of the Waste Free Oceans family and are collaborating with them in their work to clean up the ocean and raise awareness of the problem of plastics in the ocean.

DESIGN INNOVATION

We take pride in designing products that not only last a lifetime, but we also design in features or processes that boost sustainability.

We design in 100% recyclability. The vast majority of our products are completely recyclable where facilities exist.

Our products are flat-packed and easily assembled which reduces shipping and environmental impact.

Our packaging is recyclable and mainly comes from recycled material.

OUR VIEW ON PLASTICS

Plastic is affordable and uses less energy to produce than wood and metals. On average, alternatives to plastic are 3.5 times heavier and require 82% more energy to produce, creating nearly 2.7 times more CO2 over the course of their life cycle.

We don’t believe in single-use plastics. Our products are designed to have minimal impact on the Earth to create a better world, but still meet people’s expectations.
